Referral or direct consultation
You may be referred by your dentist within the practice, by an external dentist, or you can contact us directly. We'll arrange an appropriate consultation.

We carry out a clinical examination and review any X-rays or scans. Additional imaging (OPT or CBCT) may be taken to plan your treatment.

We explain your diagnosis and treatment options clearly, discuss anaesthetic preferences, and obtain your consent before proceeding.

Surgical procedure
Your procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, with sedation available if preferred. We work methodically and keep you informed throughout.

Aftercare and instructions
You'll receive detailed verbal and written aftercare instructions, any medications needed, and direct contact details for urgent queries.

Follow-up appointment
We schedule a review to assess healing, remove any sutures, and confirm the outcome - or discuss any further treatment if required.

Do I need a referral for oral surgery?
In most cases you will be referred by your dentist within the practice or by an external dentist. However, you are welcome to contact us directly if you have a specific surgical concern.
What anaesthetic options are available?
Most procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic. Intravenous (IV) sedation is available for anxious patients or more complex procedures, which allows you to remain conscious but in a deeply relaxed state.
How long does recovery take?
Recovery time varies depending on the procedure. Simple extractions may resolve in a few days; surgical extractions and more complex procedures can take one to two weeks. We'll give you specific guidance based on your treatment.
Will my treatment be covered by Denplan?
Oral surgery procedures are typically outside the scope of routine Denplan plans. We'll provide a clear fee estimate before any treatment proceeds.
Can I drive home after my appointment?
If you have intravenous sedation, you will not be able to drive home and must be accompanied by a responsible adult. For local anaesthetic only, you may drive.
